Crystal River, FL Mini Reunion
Nov, 2013

RVF rigs surrounded Jim and Becky Jones home in Crystal River again the first weekend in November 2013. It was time for the Annual Stone Crab Jam sponsored by the Crystal River Rotary Club. That meant it was time again for the RVF mini rally to help Jim Jones complete part of his tasks as a member of the Crystal River Club. The rally members include Dave and Judy Farr, J Ray and Claude Brown, Jim and Mary Frances Smith, Neil and Valarie Loth, the Jones’s and an Rv’r that is receiving great pressure to become and Rotarian and a member of the RVF. All were provided electric hook ups to the Jones’ house.

After some of the tasks, the RVF group helped with all the signs for the event, were completed Friday afternoon, the rally goers began the weekend with a traditional dinner at Pecks, a great seafood restaurant. The group left fully satisfied as usual.

The next morning it was sign raising again. These included directional as well as banner Crab Jam signs. The work ended just before the event, including many bands, started at 4pm Saturday. Jim and Becky continued working with other assigned tasks, including rounding up money from entrance locations and Rotary booths. This year there were a record 95 vendors. These vendors range from popcorn sellers to caricature artists. The Rotary booths included the Stone Crab eatery. The Rotarians charged $20 for a huge plate of crab claws plus $3 for a helper to crack the claws. J Ray Brown said that was the best $3 he ever spent.

Sunday morning, and into early afternoon, the annual pot luck breakfast at the Jones house was a great feast. Hard to believe that so much could be consumed by those attending. The Jones family at the breakfast included some of Jim and Becky’s Children and a few Grandchildren (who were fussed over by all the RVF’rs).

Jim Jones was asked about the Brotherhood Ride program, a group of Firefighters and Law officers that ride their bicycles in honor of and to raise funds for the families of dedicated Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers that have made the ultimate sacrifice on duty. Jim and Becky accompany the group in their RV as support. He said this year’s ride was a huge success and they are planning on a ride in 2014 that will take them from Tallahassee, Florida into Texas where they will honor fallen Firefighters in Bryan, West, and Dallas and end the ride in Houston. Rotarian Jim Jones is proud of the support given to the riders from Rotary and urges other Rotarians to check out the web site listed below.
