The Spring rally for the Central Zone was held in historic Bastrop Texas April 26 - 29 2007 with Wagon Masters Tom and Shirley Martin.

We welcomed new members Richard and Marvel Love from Copperas Cove, Texas and Stan and Eileen Duitscher from Dickenson Texas. Barbara Vana, Director of the Bastrop County Museum gave us a welcome and excellent overview of Bastrop. Later we car pooled to Murphy’s Steakhouse, founded in 1827, in nearby Winchester for an opening dinner together.

Friday following breakfast we enjoyed a walking tour of The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa located on the Colorado River. Lunch was served in the Fire Wheel Café.

Saturday after a pancake and sausage breakfast, Rob and Pat Smith led a tour of the Mckinney Roughs Nature Park where Rotary District 5870 RYLA is held. Rob and Pat are directors of the event. Others journeyed to historic downtown Bastrop for their Yesterfast celebration. A delicious Bar-B-Q pot luck dinner was served that evening. Following that, Guest speaker, Dr. Jerry Kahler, reviewed his forthcoming book on George Washington; The Long Farewell.

Sunday 24 Rotarians enjoyed a Continental Breakfast with Farewells and wished a “safe journey” to those attending the National Rally in Salt Lake City, Utah.
